Shared safety points

All four carry a boxed warning concerning thyroid C-cell tumors observed in rodents and are contraindicated with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2.

Other important risks may include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, severe gastrointestinal reactions, dehydration-related kidney injury, hypoglycemia with insulin or sulfonylureas, and aspiration risk around anesthesia.

Do not combine the brands

Ozempic and Wegovy both contain semaglutide. Mounjaro and Zepbound both contain tirzepatide. Product labeling advises against using these medicines with another product containing the same ingredient or another GLP-1 receptor agonist.
